Leif Coffield to Release New Electro-Pop Masterpiece

“A truly original pop voice” - Clash

“A glistening little pop nugget” - Vic Galloway (BBC Radio Scotland)

“slickly-produced electro-pop” - The Scotsman

Leif Coffield is to release his new single, Say My Name on 5th February, a stunning new dark electro-pop track which looks to cement him as one of the UK’s most innovative and exciting dark electro-pop artists. Having gained support throughout 2020 from the likes of Clash and national BBC radio, Leif is looking to introduce his boundary-breaking dark pop sound to an even larger audience.

Based in Glasgow, Leif Coffield has already captured to music world’s attention with his razor-sharp lyrics slicing through waves of thickly textured electronic combinations of indie, dark contemporary pop and hip hop. Say My Name is another snapshot of an artist at the peak of his powers, lyrically tackling the feeling of being suppressed in a relationship and the yearning to break free and rediscover yourself.

“I try in each of my songs for them to have one unique element or one distinguishing factor that sounds out of the ordinary and that separates it from the norm. I take a lot of inspiration from artists that endeavour to break the mould and refrain from operating within the confines of the mainstream. Artists like Flume, FINNEAS, Kanye West, Bon Iver etc were pushing the boundaries of the creative process and what is conventionally palatable is key. I would describe my music as if hip hop impregnated acoustic and gave birth to a baby that was raised in an electronic family. I always try to evoke emotion in the song whether it be through the instrumentation or accompanying vocal melody and lyrics.”

Leif’s interest in minimalist and brutalist imagery can be seen in the stunning video which accompanies Say My Name. The starkness of the run-down council flat setting is at odds with the stunning choreography of the dancers and the music, an extraordinary mix of dark indie-folk, electro-pop and hip-hop all of which comes together perfectly under Leif’s dedication to sound design and atmosphere.
