Erin Bloomer’s here to have a good time.

At just 17 years old and mid-way through her A-Levels, the UK-based singer-songwriter has just released her second single, “Lately“. Originally written for one of her best friends, the pop-R&B track preaches letting go, having fun and enjoying being 18, rather than getting tied up in complicated or serious relationships.

Having first gained a substantial audience posting cover videos on her Instagram, Bloomer released her first single “Right Love, Wrong Time” back in 2017, which received airplay approval from the likes of BBC radio and now has almost 1.5 million views on Spotify.

We caught up with the teen to find out more about her influences, journey so far and what we can look forward to next…

What’s your earliest memory of music?

I had pink iPod Nano when I was five or six. I was too young to put tracks on myself, so I had a wild mixture of stuff. I remember listening to “Unfaithful” by Rihanna in the car whilst it was raining outside and thinking I was so deep. That was the first cool song I ever had.

Who was your favourite band or artist growing up?

The first concert I ever went to see was Keane with my Dad,

because they actually used to go to my primary school. Also, I can’t deny that I was a bit of a 1D fan back in the day.

When did you know you wanted to do this full time?

Probably about five years ago when I was 12. I’d always been so wrapped up in music, but at this point, I had just started my Instagram for it that had sparked a lot of interest, so I really thought it could go somewhere.

How would you describe your sound? It’s R&B with a mix of pop. I listen to so much different stuff and my sound is influenced by all of it.

If you could collaborate with one person, who would it be? I’d say if it was a singer, then Blackbear would be the man right now

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music? Strong and resilient. Let you be you.
